Do you suffer from exercise guilt?
Some days life gets in the way of exercise – whether we run out of time, lack motivation or make up excuses. Feelings of guilt and disappointment only leads to a downward spiral of energy and motivation – making the thought of exercise seem impossible and unachievable.
When life does get in the way of our daily routine, I encourage you to move on, start each day with a fresh outlook and prioritise finding ‘balance’ in your life, rather than placing unrealistic pressures on yourself.
Movement should not punish the body but make you feel balanced – physically and mentally. This feeling of ‘balance’ can be difficult to define, let alone achieve! And often conjures more stress than good. For me, finding ‘balance’ comes down to a few different elements, above all, kept simple and achievable in my everyday.
- Make daily movement achievable & enjoyable.
Just 20 minutes of movement ensures every muscle in my body is functioning to support my overall strength, mobility and alignment. Moving my body releases a sense of empowerment and confidence that travels through everything I set out to achieve in my day.
There is a perception that in order to achieve results, the body must be pushed tirelessly until you’re left feeling defeated. When we do this, we lose our mind-body connection and neglect our form and technique. Not only does this pose a risk of injuries and imbalances from overusing certain muscle groups and overcompensating in our joints, we reduce the sensation of empowerment and confidence, becoming fixated on the physical results.
Whether it be a mini or total body workout, or stretch – moving my body releases a sense of empowerment and confidence that travels through everything I do in my day.
2. Support movement with nutrition & hydration.
Eating well supports my daily movement and nourishes both my mind and body. Movement and nutrition go hand in hand when it comes to your health. A balanced, nutrient-dense diet fuels an active mind and body, and consistent movement helps motivate a healthy lifestyle. Sounds simple, however we live in a world driven by the next trends, suffocated by endless dieting fads and superfoods that leave us feeling confused or guilty about what we are eating. Above all, eating well comes down to being sustainable and making conscious choices to:
- Satisfy your needs and wants
- Support your lifestyle
- Leave you feeling satiated and satisfied
- Preserve time and energy when it comes to preparation and feeding
- Minimise costs to the environment

3. Prioritise self-care & relaxation.
Relaxation, a moment to reset my body, calm my mind and feel present. The interplay of movement and relaxation plays an important part in my physical and mental wellbeing – they work together to both challenge and support my body. Just five minutes of Fluidform Relaxation, anytime of day or anywhere is all I need to feel centred and balanced.
When my mindset shifted to just finding five minutes in my day to completely switch off – my relationship with meditation and mindfulness became much healthier. I have always been inspired by scents and their association with memories and moments in my everyday. Wherever I am – teaching, working, cooking, moving – you will always find me burning scents for different moments. Which is why I’ve partnered with Maison Balzac to create a single oil – for movement, relaxation and everything in between. Pour La Méditation is a soothing blend of cedarwood, ylang ylang and neroli, supporting healing, anti-inflammatory and relaxation properties. For me, this scent is a representation of all my favourite daily rituals, brought together, creating balance.
